Privacy Policy
Effective 22 September 2026
This policy explains what Vijaya Sundar Jeyaraj collects through CureMyPlants, why, and the choices you have.
What we collect
- Account details: your email address and, if you add one, a display name.
- Plant data: the photos you take or upload, and the diagnoses, notes, care activity and history tied to your plants. Photos are held in secure cloud storage.
- Usage data: basic information about how the app is used, so we can fix problems and improve it.
- Purchase status: whether you have an active subscription. Payments are handled by Apple or Google. We never see your card details.
Location for weather alerts
To send local plant-care weather alerts (for example frost, heat, or storm warnings), we derive an approximate, coarse location (city or region level, rounded) from your device IP address. We do not collect or store your precise location, and we do not sell or share it. You can turn Weather alerts off at any time in Settings.
How we use it
- To run the app: identify plant issues, generate treatment plans, save your library, and send care reminders.
- To send a diagnosis reminder or treatment plan when you ask for one on our website.
- To provide support and answer your messages.
- To keep the app secure and, with your permission, to improve accuracy over time (see "Improving our diagnosis").
Email choices
When you enter your email on our website, we use it to provide the diagnosis reminder or treatment plan you requested. A separate, optional checkbox lets you choose whether to receive occasional plant-care tips and CureMyPlants app updates. Leaving that box unchecked does not stop the requested reminder or plan. Every promotional email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can also opt out by emailing support@curemyplants.com.
Private research studies
When you apply for a CureMyPlants product-research study, we collect the contact details, device choice, plant-care information, eligibility confirmations, and consent choices that you submit. We do not require a social profile link or access to private content. We also collect campaign parameters and basic technical information needed to prevent duplicate or fabricated applications. We store a one-way keyed hash of the application IP address for abuse checks rather than retaining the raw IP address in the research application.
We use this information to assess study fit, select a balanced participant group, send instructions, run the study, review feedback, and administer any stated participant thank-you. If you are selected and consent, we may match your application email to limited CureMyPlants actions such as account creation, diagnosis completion, saving a plant, creating a care routine, and completing a care task. We collect your private feedback answers about features tried, ease of use, reminders, what helped, what frustrated you, and what you wish the app could do. This matching is used to understand the study journey and confirm a good-faith attempt. Payment is not based on a positive opinion.
We do not require a public post, rating, app-store review, purchase, or subscription. Unselected application data is deleted 30 days after submission. Selected participant application and feedback records may be kept for up to 12 months, then deleted or deidentified, except for the minimum payment record we must retain for accounting or legal purposes. You may withdraw an application or request deletion by emailing support@curemyplants.com.
Sharing
We do not sell your data. We share it only with services that help us run the app, such as our hosting and cloud storage providers, and, for some difficult diagnoses, a third-party image-analysis service that processes the image to return guidance. Payments are processed by Apple and Google.
Advertising and cookies
On our web diagnoser and app-download page we use advertising pixels from Reddit and Meta (which runs Facebook, Instagram and Threads) to measure how well our ads perform, for example whether a visit led to a diagnosis or an app-store button tap. These pixels set cookies and share identifiers, such as your IP address and actions on the page, with those ad platforms. We also store campaign parameters, such as UTM values and advertising campaign, ad set, ad, placement and click identifiers, with our anonymous website funnel events. We use these values to compare campaign performance and do not use them to identify you by name. We do not sell your data for money.
For a US launch, you can opt out of targeted advertising and the sharing of your information for cross-context behavioral advertising ("Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information") by adjusting your choices directly with each platform: Reddit at reddit.com/personalization and Meta at facebook.com/settings?tab=ads. You can also block cookies in your browser settings, and many browsers send a Global Privacy Control signal that we honor as an opt-out request. If you have questions, email support@curemyplants.com.
Where your data is stored
Your account and plant records are held in a managed database, and your photos in cloud object storage. Both are protected with reasonable technical measures and hosted in the United States. Access is limited to our own systems; the app never connects to the database directly.
Improving our diagnosis (app uploads)
This section covers photos you upload while signed in to the CureMyPlants app. With your permission, we may use your app plant photos to improve the app's accuracy. This setting is on by default and you can turn it off any time in the app under Account. When it is on, we convert your photo into a transformed (augmented) copy used for improvement and keep the original for at most 30 days, after which the original is deleted. If you turn it off, we do not use your app photos this way. Photos uploaded to our free web diagnoser, where there is no account or toggle, are covered separately in How we use your photos below.
How we use your photos
When you use our free web diagnoser, you can upload a photo of your plant without creating an account. Here is what we do with it.
What we collect. The photo you upload, the answers you give to our diagnosis questions, and the plant name. We also record basic technical information that comes with any web request, such as your device type, browser, and IP address, along with diagnosis logs from our diagnosis algorithm. If you choose to receive the full treatment plan by email, we also collect the email address you enter.
Why we use it. We use your photo two ways. First, to give you a diagnosis and treatment plan for your plant. Second, to further improve our diagnosis algorithm so it can help other plant owners in our community over time.
We do not sell your photos. We do not sell your photos, and we do not share them for advertising. We share them only with service providers that help us run and improve the tool.
How long we keep them. We delete your uploaded photo, your answers and the plant name within 90 days. While we have them, we use them to improve our diagnosis algorithm so it can help other plant owners in our community. You can ask us to delete your photo sooner at any time.
How to ask us to delete your photo. Email support@curemyplants.com and we will remove your photo from our systems.
Your consent. By uploading a photo to the web diagnoser, you agree that we can use it to diagnose your plant and to improve CureMyPlants as described above.
How long we keep your data
- We keep your data while your account is active.
- Deleting your account starts a 30-day recovery window. Sign back in within 30 days to cancel and restore everything. After that, your account, records and photos are permanently erased.
- Deleting a single plant profile keeps it recoverable for 90 days. After that, the profile and its photos are permanently removed to free space.
- Photos used to improve diagnosis (if you opted in) have their originals deleted within 30 days, as described above.
- Photos uploaded to the free web diagnoser are deleted within 90 days (see How we use your photos).
- Unselected research applications are deleted 30 days after submission. Selected participant research records may be kept for up to 12 months, then deleted or deidentified, subject to minimum payment-record requirements.
Your choices
- Delete your account any time in the app (Account, then Delete account), or by emailing support@curemyplants.com. See the recovery windows above.
- Request a copy of your data by emailing support@curemyplants.com.
- Unsubscribe from promotional email at any time using the link in an email. Requested diagnosis reminders and treatment plans are separate from promotional email consent.
- Turn photo use for improvement on or off under Account, and turn off notifications in your device settings.
Children
CureMyPlants is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the effective date and, for material changes, notify you in the app.
